Rumor is that Betsy aka Elizabeth COOK was born in Bledsoe Co, TN about 1780-1790. She married Charles MERRIMAN / MERRYMAN. They had three sons and possibly a daughter. The sons were John Morgan, William, & Andrew Jackson. Not sure of their birth order or years born. Betsy COOK Merriman died before 1820. Charles Merriman married Nancy HAMM in January 1820 in Maury Co, TN. It has been reported that Charles was also in Montgomery County, TN before Maury County, TN. After he left Maury County he went to Stewart Co, TN. From there up into Bond and Montgomery Counties in IL. If anyone has info on Betsy or Charles I would like to share.

Charles MERRIMAN / MERRYMAN was born about 1780 in Granville County, NC. His ancestors were from Lunnenburg County, VA and before there, they were in Baltimore County, MD.

Elizabeth aka Betsy COOK was supposedly born in Bledsoe County, TN about 1780-1790. In the 1815 Tax List there were two (2) Cook families; Tholmas COOK and William COOK. I am looking for Her parents and siblings. Also, her death date which is before Jan 1820. She may have died in Bledsoe or any county in TN that the family travelled through before being in Maury County, TN when Charles MERRIMAN married a Nancy HAM in Jan 1820 in Maury County, TN.

If anyone has any information on Charles and Betsy please contact me at: loiscarmack@cablerocket.com .

They are my ggg grandparents on my Mom's side;

Mary Alice Jane MERRIMAN Layton born 1926 in Marion County, AR,

her father was Willis [aka Poppy] MERRIMAN, born 1903 at Longbottom Creek, Marion County, AR.

He was the youngest son of Bryant Henderson aka Hense MERRIMAN born 1837 in Montgomery or Fayette County, IL,

his father was John Morgan aka Morgan MERRIMAN / MERRYMAN born between 1810-1816 in TN

and John's father was the above Charles MERRIMAN born 1780 in Granville County, NC.

I greatly appreciate any info shed on this family, especially on Elizabeth aka Betsy COOK,

Regards and I wish everyone a very Happy New Year to you all.
