My ancestors lived in Morgan Co. in the 1830 census and possible 1840. They had property on the Crooked Fork of the Emory river. I know there were several households of Davis' in Morgan at the time and I'm trying to connect my Thomas b. ca 1800 probably NC or Va. to one of those families.

The family was a rowdy bunch and many of the children and grand children had red hair and fiery tempers (probably sounds like most of the folks in Morgan at that time). Thomas and Elizabeth were in Meigs Co. by 1845.

Thomas and Elizabeth borrowed money from John Laymance in 3/1841 to support the family by mortgaging the land. By 1848, Elizabeth signed the land over to Laymance. 20 acres on Crooked Fork of Emory. One side was by James B. Jones 100 acre parcel. Witnesses to the deed were: Johnathan McPeters, James Kelly, Alford Wallace.

Interested in anything anyone can tell me about any of these people or where their land was located.
