I am looking for history & pictures of the Grisham families that lived in the Maggart Community & Sullivan's Bend Rd. of Smith Co.,TN. Henry Clay & his wife Virginia Frances (Vaden) had a farm on Maggart Rd. that was flooded when the Cordell Hull Dam was built. Henry's father John Nelson Grisham (who married Martha J. King & Dorthenia Tennessee (called Tennie) Duke) had a general store & had a dock built to receive merchandise that had been brought up the Cumberland River on a barge from Nashville, Memphis, & other locations up the Mississippi River. There was a picture of the store in The History of Smith County Tennessee that was published in 1986 for the Bi-Centennial celebration. I don't know who the picture belonged to, but would love to have a copy of it. Some relatives have said that there were other Grisham families living near by, but they didn't really know them. It seems they were all descendants of the ancestor Joseph G. Grisham (1795 -1875) who came from VA through his sons William Pryor Grisham, James Watson Grisham, Timothy Nelson Grisham, & Joseph C. Grisham.
