[4th TN Volunteer Infantry, Company A between July 1898 and May 6, 1899. The unit served in Cuba as part of the
occupation force] in 1900 lived in Jellico Town, Whitley, KY, Barstow lived at Red Ash when the 4th TN. Vol. Inf.
was mustered into federal service, Red Ash a mining community near Kensee which is just off 25-W near JelliCo., Campbell Co., TN.
Kensee is located up in the holler wheras Red Ash was more near the mouth of the holler. There was once a wye (where trains could turn
their engines) located at Maxie (another mines) and Red Ash was in that wye area. (wye is pronounced "Y"winking smiley Proctor (then known as Red Ash)
and Kensee were operating mines by 1885." So I guess Red Ash and Proctor are actually one and the same
