I just found this original data: "Kelly, Joseph P. TENNESSEE PETITIONS 1849-1850
Petition from Marion County asking relief for Joseph P. Kelly, Sheriff and Jailor, for his services in keeping a runaway slave from Alabama named, Jim, for a period of six months.
Marion County.
Year 1849
Petition #13"

Joseph P. Kelly, born in 1814 in Tennessee, was married to Frances (Fanny) Griffith, born in Tennessee in 1819. Daughter of Amos Griffith and Mary Polly Standifer.

SEARCHING for Joseph P. Kelly's parents and their other children plus their exact residence location. In 1880, they were living in Bedford County (Federal Census). Also searching for what happened to my great-grandfather's (William Griffith Kelly 1843, Jasper, Marion, Tennessee; died in December 1896 in Houston,Harris, Texas). He was first married to Harriett May Miller, born 1848 in Tennessee (a.k.a. Hattie May Miller). They had 8 children but we do not know what happened to this first wife and 6 of the eight children.

Your kind assistance is appreciated.
